Police have charged a 54-year-old man in the sexual assault of a minor at a day home in east Edmonton and believe there may be additional victims. This month, police received a report of a 2022 sexual assault of a child at Shining Stars day home, a private and unlicensed facility in the area of 50 Street and 101 Avenue. Police say the day home is not affiliated with any other Edmonton childcare facilities with the same name. Michael Doucette was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitations to sexual touching in relation to the incident in 2022. Police say Doucette lived at the day home and assisted with childcare duties. The day home opened in 2011 and is no longer in operation. Investigators are asking individuals who may have been victimized by Doucette to contact Edmonton police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
