A 35-year-old man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant now faces charges of second-degree murder and more after an investigation into a home invasion and shooting death last Sunday in Calling Lake, Alta. On Aug. 17 around 11 p.m., RCMP responded to a home invasion where armed and masked suspects had broken into a residence, said a news release on Saturday. During the home invasion, 40-year-old Edward Young was shot and killed. Police said a suspect was found and arrested at a resident in Calling Lake on Friday. Terris Cardinal, a resident of Calling Lake, now faces charges of second-degree murder, break-and-enter and multiple firearms offences. Police said he was previously wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. He was remanded into custody after an interim release hearing and will appear in court in Athabasca on Sept. 2. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
