Warmer temperatures are just around the corner, but we’ll have to get through a cool and snowy day first. We’re not expecting any heavy snow in the Edmonton region or surrounding areas. But, with off-an-on flurries/periods of light snow... we’ll see between a dusting and 3 cm of accumulation by late tonight. Areas around Calgary and further south are expected to get the heaviest snow and a weather statement is in effect for that part of the province with some spots getting 10+ cm. A mild spell settles in through the weekend and we should get some sun Saturday/Sunday. Morning lows will be in the -2 to -5 C range for Friday-Sunday and afternoon highs will climb to the 4-9 C range (with Saturday being the warmest of the three days). Looking beyond the weekend, daytime highs stay a handful of degrees above 0 C (near the seasonal average) for Monday/Tuesday. Wednesday’s the one “cool spot” next week with a high closer to 0 C as we keep an eye on the possibility for some snow Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Some of the modelling indicates the potential for heavy snow in central/north-central Alberta. But, it’s too early to be overly confident in that outlook. Bottom line, most yards in the Edmonton area will still have snow on the ground for this Easter weekend. But, the weather should be quite pleasant. I still think we’re on track to have the vast majority of the snowcover melted by the end of next week.
