With Tuesday seeing above average double-digit temperatures, many took the opportunity to visit Edmonton’s newest park in the city’s core. O-day’min Park opened to the public Friday. The space replaces an old surface level parking lot between 106 Street and 108 Street on 102 Avenue. “When there was a parking lot here, you didn’t see families walking around, walking dogs,” said park visitor Jason Blaumle. “And all of a sudden, it seems like a real community.” The 1.81-hectare park features a green lawn with a hill – perfect for tobogganing, an off-leash dog park, a basketball court which converts into a skating rink, an exercise area, playground, gathering spaces with fire pits and public washrooms. “The fact that there are so many people here kind of tells you how badly it’s needed downtown,” Tyler Sherard told CTV News Edmonton Tuesday afternoon.
