Investigation is underway into a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place Saturday on Highway 750. RCMP believe a northbound semi-truck collided head on with a southbound pick-up truck about 16 kilometres south of the Gift Lake Métis Settlement. The semi driver tried to avoid the collision, but could not and ended up in the ditch. The 44-year-old Gift Lake man behind the wheel of the pick-up was ejected and died at the scene. He was the vehicle’s sole occupant. The semi driver, a 52-year-old man, was taken to hospital via ground ambulance. Highway 750 was reopened Sunday morning after the crash debris and resulting oil spill was cleaned up.
