An Edmonton man faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault after a woman was found dead in an SUV on Jasper Avenue early Saturday morning. Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said officers responded to reports of gunshots fired at around 4:26 a.m. near 119 Street and Jasper Avenue, where they discovered a dead woman inside an SUV. An autopsy on Monday determined the woman was Priscilla McGreer, 39, who died from gunshot wounds, said an updated news release from EPS. The homicide branch of EPS has since arrested and charged Kyle Laumen, 42, with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and breach of probation. Police said McGreer and Laumen were known to one another. McGreer was a casual instructor at NorQuest College, the school said in a statement on Tuesday. “Priscilla was a well-respected and well-liked instructor and colleague,” the statement read. “She was scheduled to teach English this semester. Her loss, two days before the start of the fall term, is especially poignant. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, students and colleagues.”
