Illegal guns, drugs seized from west Edmonton home

Four people are charged in connection with a seizure of illegal guns and drugs in west Edmonton.

Several illegal guns were seized from a home in west Edmonton earlier this month along with more than $6,000 in illegal drugs.

Police started an investigation into a person suspected of trafficking and possession of drugs in January.

As the investigation progressed, several other potential suspects were identified.

On April 9, a search warrant was executed at 157 Street and 104 Avenue and the following items were seized:

• one semi-automatic rifle, equipped with a scope and a fully loaded extended magazine;
• one sawed-off rifle with a fully loaded extended magazine;
• 105 rounds of ammunition;
• over 110 grams of hash with an estimated street value of nearly $2,000;
• over 130 grams of GHB with an estimated street value of nearly $100;
• over 52 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of over $3,000;
• nearly 40 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of over $1,500; and
• several scales and various drug paraphernalia.

A total of 59 charges were laid against a 42-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman, a 36-year-old woman and a 34-year-old woman, including possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, knowingly possessing a prohibited device or ammunition, possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as drug charges.
