It has been two years since a wildfire ripped through the Jasper National Park and its namesake townsite, destroying homes and buildings that were beloved by both tourists and the community. Owners of the Mount Robson Inn have been working behind the scenes to rebuild on the site of the former inn, which will be rebranded the Robson Hotel, and are expecting to start welcoming guests next year. “The Robson represents a new beginning, one that honours the history of this site while looking confidently towards the future,” says the hotel’s website. “Rather than recreating what once stood here, we’ve taken the opportunity to thoughtfully imagine what the next chapter could become.” Renderings of the hotel have sloped and jagged roof accents, representing the surrounding mountain terrain. “This rebuild isn’t about erasing what was. It’s about honoring it and building forward with clarity and purpose,” said the hotel’s site. The Robson Hotel announced its plan to rebuild on the site in early August.
