The warm spell peaks today and Friday in Edmonton. After back-to-back 27 C days, we’ll hit 29 C or 30 C in the city today and Friday. AND... it looks like we might get a break from the storms today. There’s a slight risk of an isolated thunderstorm developing near the city this evening. But the best chance for storms will be in southern Alberta and areas about as far north as Red Deer. Again, some of those storms will turn severe with large hail, downpours and tornado potential. The storm risk ramps up again Friday night in the Edmonton region. At this point, it’s an evening/late night timeframe. Saturday also has a high potential for storms, especially in the late afternoon/early evening hours. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible for Sunday and that’ll be our coolest day of the forecast period.
