Alberta Health Services is advising that people not swim or wade at Jubilee Park Beach on Wizard Lake due to elevated levels of bacteria found in the water. Current levels can cause gastrointestinal illness if water from the lake is consumed. Contracting skin, ear and eye infections is also possible. The provincial health agency is reminding the public to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any body of water, including Wizard Lake, at any time. Fecal bacteria as well as other water-borne organisms can cause vomiting and diarrhea. The advisory will remain in place until further notice. Wizard Lake is about 50 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
