Festival season in full swing Strap in, folks, it’s city of festivals time: Football home opener The Edmonton Elks start their season at Commonwealth Stadium against the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online. Ne-Yo, Akon It’s happening right now (na na na na). Ne-Yo and Akon perform at Rogers Place Friday night for their “Nights Like This” tour. Tickets are still available online. Art walks and National Indigenous History Month The 124 Street Art Walk will join Make Music Edmonton on Saturday afternoon with 10 free live performances and art from local vendors. Telus World of Science Edmonton is hosting an all-ages National Indigenous Peoples Day on Sunday that will include an artisan market, performances, programming, teachings and lunch. The cost is free to Indigenous people and the price of general admission to others. Game Con Canada The country’s largest gaming convention runs until Sunday at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Organizers are expecting tens of thousands of attendees looking for an opportunity to see projects from developers of video games, board games and virtual reality tech as well as meet with industry celebrities.
