Green Shacks are officially open as of Monday, and this year they’re bringing back daily music and live performances. Starting July 6, free shows, courtesy of the Edmonton Arts Council, will be held at various Green Shack locations from Monday to Friday at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Performances include Indigenous dance and drumming, steel pan music, magic tricks, interactive theatre and more. Information about shows and locations can be found here. Green Shack programming is designed for children ages six to 12, but kids of all ages are welcome. Six-year-olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Locations operate at half-days either from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with some offering full-day hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A location map is available online with hours and status updates. Programming is available rain or shine but may be moved indoors or cancelled in instances of severe weather. Green Shacks are open until Aug. 21. The city advises that the programming is not a childcare service.
