A former director with Contentment Social Services has been sentenced to 12 months in jail for defrauding a client. Shum Shabat Yousouf was arrested in 2025 after police say she used her position of trust to gain access to a victim’s bank account and took money without their consent. She was sentenced last week and ordered to pay $73,598.99 in restitution. A charge of theft over $5,000 was withdrawn. Contentment Social Services made the news in March 2024 after it was revealed that clients were being housed in hotels and motels after being discharged from hospital. The housing provider was ultimately removed from the government’s list of agencies used to advise patients being discharged from hospitals.
