While officials in southern Alberta deal with widespread flooding, the City of Red Deer has been placed under a flood warning. The city said the warning has been issued, after Alberta Environment said officials plan to release a ‘significant’ amount of water from the Dickson Dam, into the Red Deer River. As a result of the water release, the city said its Emergency Operations Centre was activated at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday evening, officials were on standby, and monitoring the river. Residents of Red Deer are reminded to stay away from the river and river banks.
