Several businesses were evacuated and police asked motorists to avoid a part of Anthony Henday Drive on Tuesday because of a grass fire in west Edmonton. Edmonton Fire Rescue Services started fighting the blaze near 111 Avenue and 189 Street at 12:35 p.m. It originated closer to 186 Street and 104 Avenue. Northbound Anthony Henday Drive was closed from Stony Plain Road to Yellowhead Highway during the evening commute. By 9 p.m., most lanes were open. Smoke from the fire was visible in St. Albert.
