Boo at the Zoo has returned this year to bring a family-friendly Halloween event to the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Visitors can participate in different activities like trick-or-treating while visiting their favourite animals. “There are lots of spookier Halloween events around the city, but we like to keep it a little more family-friendly around here,” said Amanda Bryce, the zoo’s event coordinator. “We’ve got lots of really little children that come to this one, and it’s just really cool to have everyone involved. Families come out; they’re all dressed in matching costumes, and it’s just a really cool family event.” Boo at the Zoo also serves as a treat for the animals, who are intrigued by visitors’ costumes and get Halloween treats like pumpkins. I think the animals like these new experiences,” said Bryce. “We like to give our animals enrichment so that they are stimulated and that their brains are active.” The cost for the event is the regular admission. Boo at the Zoo will also run on Oct. 24 and 25. With files from CTV News Edmonton’s Curtis Goodrum
