The City of Edmonton is inviting high school students interested in a career in emergency services to apply for the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services Fire Cadet program to gain first-hand experience. Students in the program will participate in classroom learning and hands-on experiences to help them develop leadership skills, learn the importance of mental and physical wellness, teambuilding, employment skills, and get insight into the day-to-day work of a firefighter. The program is open to kids in grades 10-12, and participating students will earn up to six high school credits for participating in the two-semester, 10-month program, which starts in September. Applications close on April 30. Students selected for an interview will be required to take a physical fitness test. More information about the program and application information can be found online.
