Not much change to the overall pattern. An upper-level low sits over the prairies, centred on Saskatchewan. We’re into a cool northwest flow on the back edge of that system and that’ll keep us a couple degrees below 20 C for the high in Edmonton today. We have some showers east and southwest of the city early this morning, but neither of those should move into the Edmonton region this morning. So... cloudy with a few sunny breaks to start the day. Most of the showers and thunderstorms this afternoon will be west and south of Edmonton. Areas from the Peace Country southeast through Red Deer and Calgary have a much better chance of getting wet today than Edmonton. The city will be on the edge of that action with mostly cloudy skies and about a 40-per cent chance of some scattered showers through the afternoon hours today. I’ve left a slight chance of a spotty shower in the forecast for Friday morning, but it should be mostly dry in the Edmonton region... then a bit of clearing late in the day. A short-lived upper ridge builds over Alberta through the weekend and Monday. That’ll bring in some sunnier and warmer conditions as daytime highs climb into the low 20s Saturday and mid 20s Sunday/Monday. BUT... that ridge collapses Tuesday and we’re back to scattered showers and highs in the upper teens mid to late next week. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Cloudy with a few sunny breaks. 40% chance of scattered showers this afternoon. High: 17 Tonight - Mostly cloudy. 30% chance of scattered showers in the evening. 9pm: 14 Friday - Cloudy with a 30% chance of showers in the morning. Then, a Mix of sun & cloud.
