There won’t be a lot of sun and definitely no heat for the rest of the week. The weekend looks sunnier and warmer, but we’ll top out in the mid to upper teens over the next three days in Edmonton. An upper trough (cool air aloft) hangs over Alberta and that’ll have us locked in under mostly cloudy skies today, Thursday and early Friday. There might be a few sunny breaks, but don’t expect anything more than “a few breaks.” We’re also not anticipating heavy and long-lasting rain, but we will see some occasional showers (and possibly a thunderstorm) in the area throughout today. Thursday’s best chance for showers (and/or a thunderstorm) will be in the afternoon and evening hours, I think we’re probably dry in the morning. In fact, most of the precipitation Thursday will hit areas west and south of the city. Showers and thunderstorms will stretch from the Peace Country down through the foothills and south. That said, there’s a good chance we’ll get at least a few showers in the Edmonton region Thursday afternoon/evening. Friday’s probably dry, but I’ve left a slight chance of some showers in the forecast for Friday morning. We’ll start to get some bigger breaks in the cloud and a bit more sun later in the day Friday. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Mostly cloudy. Occasional showers. Risk of a thunderstorm. Wind becoming NW 15-20 gusting 30-40 km/h midday and this afternoon. High: 19 Tonight - Mostly cloudy. 60% chance of showers in the evening. 9pm: 14 Thursday - Mostly cloudy in the morning. 70% chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.
