One of Edmonton’s longest-operating towing, transport and recovery services is back after what appeared to be a permanent closure earlier this year. Cliffs Towing abruptly announced the shutdown of its operations on Jan. 26 after 70 years of service. The company has since reopened under Guardium Group, a western conglomerate of businesses that already offered its own operations, called Guardium Towing Services. In an acquisition announcement dated March 23, the group said owning Cliffs Towing would expand “heavy-duty-towing and specialized recovering capabilities while keeping the same service reliability our customers expect.” Cliffs Towing was previously owned by tappCONNECT, an Edmonton transportation company which also oversees Greater Edmonton Taxi Service, Prestige Limousine and J&P Auto. The Cliffs Towing website, which is undergoing maintenance to its online booking system, has announced its new management and that it was operating at full capacity, 24/7. Vehicles that were impounded before January of this year can be released between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the previous owners’ impound lot at 10135 31 Ave. The new lot location is listed as the same place as Guardium Towing Services at 4918 Roper Road, according to the Cliffs Towing website.
