Free compost will be available at Edmonton’s Ambleside and Kennedale Eco Stations starting May 1. The compost was made from Edmontonians’ grass, leaf and yard waste, and has been lab tested and is weed free. It cannot be used commercially. Compost adds nutrients to soil, improving its organic matter, water retention, and structure. The compost will be available until June 28, or until the supply runs out. Edmontonians who would like to take some home are expected to bring their own containers, loading tools and protective equipment. The city will be limiting a single load to 100 litres per vehicle.
