Students are being encouraged to be kind with a back-to-school competition at Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre. The CHECK-IN challenge runs at the mall until Sept. 13. Participants can win a $250 shopping spree at the mall in exchange for pledges of kindness. Multiple acts can be pledged for multiple entries. If 10,000 pledges of kindness are received by the closing date, Bonnie Doon mall operator Morguard Ltd. will donate $50,000 to Kids Help Phone. “It’s really good to do that this time of year because it’s a hectic, busy time,” Leah Day, Morguard marketing manager, said. “We wanted to have families know that this resource is available and it has a 24/7 helpline and lots of resources for mental wellness.” On Monday until 3 p.m. at Entrance 2, visitors could also score a free journal and art supplies to decorate it, as well as enter a second competition to win two backpacks filled with $1,000 worth of merchandise from Bonnie Doon mall retailers. More information on the giveaways can be found on the Boonie Doon Shopping Center website.
