The Beverly Bridge in northeast Edmonton will be under construction again beginning this week after a winter pause. Starting Tuesday, traffic will be moved to the south side of the bridge and its three lanes will become two. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h in the construction zone. The City of Edmonton says the changes will likely stay in place until the end of October 2026 depending on weather and construction progress. The Beverly Bridge rehabilitation project began with work on its south side in 2025. This next stage focuses on the north side and will involve asphalt milling and paving, barrier replacement and replacements to the bridge girders. The bridge, which carries eastbound traffic on the Yellowhead Trail over the North Saskatchewan River, was built in 1972 and has been scheduled for restoration in order to extend the lifespan of the structure. The project is estimated to cost around $16.7 million, according to Alberta Major Projects.
