Some watery entertainment descended on St. Albert this week, and that’s watery in the literal sense. Water Circus Nautilus by Cirque Italia is set up at St. Albert Centre for the next few days. Cirque Italia brings its unique twist on circus performances, a water stage that holds 35,000 gallons of water that, at times, will shoot as high as 30 feet into the air. There are 19 performers with the show in St. Albert and the site lists a number of current and past acts, including aerial nets, the wheel of death, head balancing trapeze, contortion and more. “It’s a good two hours of entertainment that makes you forget about everything,” said ringmaster and comedian Alex Acro. There are seven different shows Cirque Italia cycles between, with Alberta getting the Nautilus show this time around. Others include Atlantis, Metropolis and scarier ones like Voodoo and Inferno. Cirque Italia began in 2012 and tours all over Canada and the U.S. Tickets are available online. The show runs in St. Albert until Sept. 14 and then moves down to Calgary.
