Alberta cancer charity receives $250K for caregiver support

An Alberta organization is getting $225,000 in funding to help support caregivers.

Wellspring Alberta is a charity offering free support services for people living with cancer, as well as their families.

The money, being donated by the Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation, will go toward free programming for caregivers of Albertans living with cancer.

Wellspring said it will help address an increasing need in the community, as many caregivers face mental, physical and emotional strain. Services provided cover issues like financial strain, relationship changes, fatigue and burn out.

“Thanks to the support of the Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation, we can continue our efforts to support and empower caregivers and ensure they have access to the resources and community they need to sustain their own well-being while providing care for their loved ones,” Wellspring wrote in a Tuesday press release.

Wellspring has facilities in Edmonton and Calgary, as well as satellite sites in Red Deer and Lethbridge.
