Crisp mornings, mid-teen afternoons, lots of sunshine and... for Tuesday/Wednesday... gusty wind. That’s your forecast in a nutshell for the rest of this week as some slightly cooler air settles in. We’re well above the freezing mark in the Edmonton are this morning as some clouds move through. Most of the showers are north of the area, but there might be a couple neighbourhoods that get a sprinkle early Tuesday morning. Skies should start clearing by midday as the wind picks up and we’ll get gusts to around 40 km/h throughout the afternoon hours in Edmonton. Most of the northern half of the province will get 40-50 km/h gusts Tuesday afternoon. For the Edmonton region, the wind will ease tonight and then pick up again Wednesday. Areas further north stay windy right through Tuesday night and most of Wednesday. Calmer conditions will take over for Thursday/Friday and the weekend. Morning lows will slip to around 0 C Thursday/Friday as daytime highs hold steady in the 15 C range for the next few days. Warmer air moves in towards the end of the weekend and an upper ridge should bring back the warmth for next week. Daytime highs are projected to hit the upper teens on Sunday in Edmonton and we’ll get a string of days with highs near 20 C Monday-Friday of next week (Oct. 5-9). Bottom line: A dry forecast for most of the province after Tuesday (although there may be some rain in areas around Fort McMurray and north early Wednesday). We’ll see some frosty morning through the back half of the week in central and northern Alberta, but afternoon highs should be right around average. THEN...a warming trend for next week.
