Three teenagers in Red Deer have been charged with aggravated assault after a girl was severely hurt earlier this month. RCMP said in a media release on Monday that officers responded to several 911 calls requesting assistance in the city’s Oriole Park area around 12:54 a.m. on May 4. Police had received reports of gunshots and a female voice screaming for help. Officers found a 15-year-old girl who had been severely assaulted. The victim sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. A 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl – all Red Deer residents – were arrested a short time later. The 15-year-old boy is facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a release order. The 15-year-old girl and the 14-year-old boy are both facing aggravated assault charges, and have been released with conditions. They both are set to appear in Red Deer court on May 28. The 15-year-old boy remained in custody until his court date last week.
