Edmonton Elections says 140 people have put their names in for either mayor, city council or school board trustee as nomination day came to a close Monday. Those looking to be nominated had to submit signatures and make a payment by noon. There are 13 people running for mayor and 81 vying for the other 12 seats on city council. Roughly 50 people have put their names forward for trustee positions. The nomination process is the final step in becoming an official candidate. Nominated candidates have until noon on Tuesday to withdraw. The city said voter information cards will be sent to all registered electors and residential addresses in the coming weeks. Special ballot packages for those unable to vote in person will soon be sent out and will be available for in-person pickup at the Edmonton Elections office.
