104 Avenue near Rogers Place to close for 3rd period until one hour following all Oilers home playoff games

Can you smell the excitement in the City of Edmonton’s air? The Stanley Cup Playoffs have officially begun and the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is reminding everyone to prepare and stay safe.

EPS said it’s working with OEG Sports & Entertainment and City of Edmonton Civic Events partners to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

104 Avenue between 101 Street to 105 Street will be closed during the third period of all home games until approximately one hour after the game ends to help fans leave safely and quickly, EPS said.

Edmonton police are also reminding everyone attending the festivities to plan travel ahead by using public transit, designated drivers or rideshare services, and to coordinate your drop-off and pick-up zones.

“Based on previous playoff runs, we anticipate crowds of up to 30,000 people in ICE District during home games, and we’re planning accordingly,” said Staff Sgt. Michael Hickey in Monday’s release.

“Edmonton fans are passionate and generally well-behaved, and this isn’t our first playoff run. Enjoy responsibly. Pace yourselves. Look out for your fellow fans. Let’s go Oilers!”
