HALIFAX - RCMP say one of their cruisers was damaged yesterday in a Halifax-area collision when it was struck by a driver who is now facing impaired driving charges.

A news release from the Mounties says the two-vehicle collision occurred on Main Street near Montague Road in Cole Harbour late Friday night.

The crash involved an RCMP cruiser and 2001 Ford Taurus.

The police cruiser was traveling eastbound with emergency lights flashing when the Ford pulled onto the street in front of the police vehicle.

Neither the driver of the Taurus nor the police officer required medical attention.

Police say the driver of the Taurus is facing charges of impaired driving in the incident.
