June 2023: Daniele Hamamdjian is no longer with the company

Daniele Hamamdjian joined CTV NATIONAL NEWS in 2009 and is now based in London, England, delivering international coverage in her role as London News Bureau Correspondent. She also serves as London Correspondent for CTV’s W5, and makes regular contributions to Bell Media’s French-language news network NOOVO INFO.

As London News Bureau Correspondent, Hamamdjian has reported on a wide variety of international news events, which include: the war in Ukraine and the resulting refugee crisis; the deaths and funerals of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip; the Brexit negotiations; terror attacks in the U.K.; the European migrant crisis in Italy, Greece, Austria, and Germany; the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle; the Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh; as well as extensive reporting from the Middle East. Hamamdjian’s other notable assignments during her tenure as London Correspondent include the 2015 Nepal earthquake, the funeral of Nelson Mandela, and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

While previously assigned to CTV News’ Ottawa Bureau, Hamamdjian travelled extensively with former Prime Minister Stephen Harper. She has also provided coverage of significant Canadian news stories, including the Attawapiskat First Nation housing crisis in 2011, which led to testimonies of alleged rampant sex abuse in Attawapiskat and Indigenous communities across the country. Hamamdjian and the CTV News crew were also the first international reporting team on the ground in Haiti after the devastating earthquake that rocked the country in 2010.

A two-time Canadian Screen Award nominee, Hamamdjian was recognized with nominations in 2019 and 2022 for Best National Reporter and Best Editorial Research, and was also a finalist for a 2021 Canadian Association of Journalists Award in the “Broadcast Under Five Minutes” category.

Hamamdjian began on-air reporting for CTV News Montreal in 2006. A Concordia University journalism graduate, Hamamdjian began her career as general assignment reporter at the Santa Monica Daily Press in California.

Born in Cairo, Egypt, Hamamdjian lived in Los Angeles before immigrating to Montréal with her family in the late 1980s. Hamamdjian credits her parents with instilling in her the importance of keeping informed on world issues and current events.

Her international upbringing and experience is reflected in her passion for world travel and the four languages she speaks, which include fluent French and English, as well as conversational Arabic and Italian.
