When the Finance Minister introduces the federal budget on Monday, March 19, CTV will be front and centre providing Canadians with live, multi-platform coverage.

CTV announced today the details of their extensive budget coverage anchored by Budget 2007 - a live, one-hour, CTV News special airing on CTV, CTV Newsnet and The CTV Broadband Network on March 19 at 4 p.m. ET. CTV News will also have extensive pre-budget and post-budget programming on CTV Newsnet, online at CTV.ca, as well as the next morning on Canada's national news program of record, Canada AM (full details below).

Once again, CTV News has assembled Canada's most esteemed team of political experts and journalists to provide Canadians with the all-important context and analysis as the budget is delivered. Chief Anchor and Senior Editor, Lloyd Robertson, will be joined by CTV Ottawa Bureau Chief, Robert Fife, and Chief Political Correspondent, Craig Oliver. Veteran political journalist Mike Duffy will lead CTV Newsnet's extensive coverage that includes a countdown to the budget and a special post-budget edition of Mike Duffy Live.

Budget 2007

On Monday, March 19 at 4 p.m. ET, CTV's Chief Anchor and Senior Editor, Lloyd Robertson, will helm Budget 2007 - a special one-hour, live CTV News special available on CTV, CTV Newsnet and online via the CTV Broadband Network at CTV.ca. CTV's Ottawa Bureau Chief, Robert Fife, and Chief Political Correspondent, Craig Oliver, will join Robertson in providing extensive analysis and commentary on what many believe will be the last budget before a possible election. In addition to airing highlights of Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's speech, Robertson and the CTV News team will have reactions from the opposition, political pundits, as well as Canadians from across the country.

CTV Newsnet will have continuous coverage live from Parliament Hill on budget day Monday, March 19. Beginning with question period at the House of Commons, CTV Newsnet will present an hour-long budget preview that will countdown to the moment the Finance Minister makes his address. At 5 p.m. ET, a special edition of Mike Duffy Live will focus on reactions and analysis of the budget - explaining how it will impact Canadians, and what it means for the minority Conservative government's future. On Tuesday, March 20 at 6:30 a.m., Canada AM will host its annual Post-Budget Breakfast live from Ottawa's Dunn's Deli. Ottawa politicians now consider Dunn's and Canada AM as "the place to be seen" on the morning after the budget. Traditionally, politicians from all parties drop by and join Canada AM's co-host Beverly Thomson for breakfast and to weigh in on what the new budget has in store for Canadians.
