OTTAWA - Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. (TSX:CP) and the union representing workers that build and maintain track and machinery have reached a tentative three-year contract.

The memorandum was announced late Saturday by the Calgary-based company and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference -- Maintenance of Way Division.

No details have been released.

There is no word on when a ratification vote by union members will be held.

CP Rail is Canada's second-biggest rail operator.

The agreement was announced just a week after the company appointed former CN Rail executive Ed Harris as its chief operations officer.
