Environment Canada has issued a number of frost advisories for Eastern Canada, namely Quebec and New Brunswick. While both provinces may be impacted by frost from colder temperatures, most of the frost advisories are located in Quebec. Areas that will be affected by the frost advisories in Quebec include areas outside of Montreal, such as Val-des-Monts, Sainte-Anne-du-Lac, Sainte-Adèle, Val-d’Or in the north and Granby, Sherbrooke and Sainte-Justine in the south. In New Brunswick, areas impacted by frost are just above Fredericton, including Campbellton and the eastern half of Retigouche county, Edmundston and Madawaska county, Mount Carleton - Renous Highway, and Woodstock and Carleton county. “Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops,” according to Environment Canada. In some areas in Quebec, overnight tonight and Saturday evening, minimum temperatures are expected to reach or drop slightly below the freezing mark. Minimum temperatures are expected to be between -1 C and 4 C in impacted areas in New Brunswick, with cold temperatures overnight tonight and early Saturday expected to give patchy frost, especially in low lying areas, the advisories note. As a result of colder temperatures and frost, Environment Canada advises to take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees that could be damaged.
