MONTREAL - The last of 90 Air Canada passengers stranded by a riot at a Buenos Aires airport are expected to finally make their flights to Toronto today.

An Air Canada jet flying from the Argentinian capital was forced to leave behind half its passengers on the weekend after angry locals frustrated by a labour dispute brought the airport to a standstill.

Disgruntled passengers of an Argentinian airline smashed ticket counters, threw computers to the ground and attacked security guards.

Air Canada spokeswoman Isabelle Arthur says the rioters caused quite a bit of damage and blocked other passengers from getting through checkpoints and security controls.

A heavy police presence and the resumption of regular domestic flights appeared to calm things down yesterday.

Arthur says about 50 of the stranded passengers were re-booked on other airlines, while 40 others are expected to take regular Air Canada flights today.
