The Winnipeg Police Service is apologizing after an “inappropriate” conversation between members of the service’s helicopter team was inadvertently broadcast over a loudspeaker.

In a statement, police said members of the Helicopter AIR1 team accidentally activated the aircraft’s public address system during a routine evening patrol on Monday.

Police said the officers “became aware their conversation had been broadcast and immediately turned the system off.”

The statement followed comments on social media from locals who said they heard a conversation that referenced oral sex.

One woman wrote, “does the #Winnipeg chopper realize the entire West End can hear their convo about blow jobs right now?”

The police service apologized and said the incident is being reviewed.

“The Winnipeg Police Service, the Flight Operations Unit, and the involved members sincerely apologize to all members of the public, especially those who overheard the broadcast,” the statement said.
