Retired Maple Leaf Tie Domi helped Toronto Mayor Rob Ford issue a different type of icing call on Saturday.
The ex-enforcer helped the mayor's brother to dump a garbage bin full of ice water on Rob Ford's head in a video posted on YouTube Saturday.
The soaking was part of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a viral stunt that has people around the world pouring buckets of ice water over their heads to raise money for charity.
All money raised from participants goes to the ALS Association, a research organization looking for a cure to Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a spinal cord disease also known as Lou Gehrig's disease and Motor Neurone Disease.
As part of the trend, those participating nominate others to follow in their footsteps or make a donation. Domi posted his video on Friday, and Ford followed up the next day.
"Hi, I am Mayor Ford. I have been called out by legendary Maple Leaf Tie Domi for the ice bucket challenge for ALS," Ford says, looking at the camera.
Turning off screen and pointing a finger, he then yells, "Tie, I accept your challenge. Let's bring it on."
A grinning Doug Ford and Domi step into frame, pick up the plastic bin covered in "Ford Mayor" stickers, lift it up and then turn it over the mayor's head.
A red-faced, ice-water soaked Rob Ford yells and shivers as his brother and Domi laugh.
"Now, I'm going to call out three people -- that's cold -- Jimmy Kimmel, I want you to do the Ice Bucket Challenge. [Ontario] Premier Kathleen Wynne, I want you to do the Ice Bucket Challenge. And Prime Minister Stephen Harper, I want you to do the Ice Bucket Challenge to help cure this terrible disease," Ford shouts, gesturing to the camera.
After the video was posted, a spokesperson for the mayor said Ford will donate $100 to the ALS Association.
On Sunday, Wynne posted a message on Twitter saying that she and her partner would also donate $100.
