WINNIPEG - A Winnipeg man who kidnapped his two kids and hid them in Mexico will have to wait a bit longer to find out his sentence.

Kevin Maryk pleaded guilty last month to kidnapping his children in 2008, keeping them in a heavily guarded home in Mexico for four years.

The Crown wants a five-year sentence, while the defence wants his immediate release based on credit for time served in Canada and Mexico.

A lengthy sentencing hearing was held last week and the judge was prepared to hand down a sentence.

But that was delayed when the Crown requested hearing more witness testimony.

The case has been put over another week while the Crown and defence discuss potential witnesses.
