SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - RCMP say potatoes supplied by Prince Edward Island-based Linkletter Farms should be checked for metal objects.

Police are investigating after a second potato containing a piece of metal was found by a consumer in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The potato was purchased at a store in Carmanville.

A metal bit was also found in a potato in Labrador City this week.

The Mounties say they are investigating the possibility of food tampering.

Linkletter Farms, based in Summerside, voluntarily withdrew its Link and Market Town brands after receiving the first complaint.

People who find metal in any potatoes are asked to keep the spud and call police.
