The Royal Family paid tribute to country music legend Dolly Parton with a message and a video on its official social media accounts, one day after her death. The video shows the Coldstream Guards Band playing its instrumental version of Parton’s hit song “9 to 5” during the Changing the Guard ceremony Wednesday morning. Parton died Tuesday at the age of 80 in Nashville following what her publicist said was a “brief battle with cancer.” “Remembering the late, great Dolly, who brought joy, comfort and inspiration to so many - including the millions of children given free books through her Imagination Library. We will always love you,” read the message from the Royal Family’s social media accounts on Wednesday. The Queen’s Reading Room also honoured Parton with a message on Instagram. The Queen’s charity highlighted Parton’s advocacy for reading in its tribute. “By putting so many books into the hands of so many children, she gave the most precious of gifts: the chance to millions of young minds of opening the door to imagination, possibility and a lifelong love of reading,” read the message. “Thank you, Dolly!” Not only famous for her chart-topping hits for nearly six decades, Parton was also known for her Imagination Library, a non-profit program which donated more than 300 million books to children. Music experts said Parton’s legacy includes her optimism and empathy, which was communicated through her music.
