Police in Quebec made a series of arrests over the weekend to stop 10 people suspected of planning to leave Canada to join jihadist groups.

All 10 suspects were taken into custody at Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport, RCMP said in a statement late Tuesday.

No charges have been laid, but the suspects have had their passports confiscated.

Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney gave little information about the arrests, saying he could not comment on “specific operational matters.”

But he commended the RCMP and Integrated National Security Enforcement Team “for their continued vigilance in keeping our streets and communities safe from the ongoing global terror threat.”

The RCMP said the investigation is ongoing, and Mounties have met with families and friends of the suspects.
