HALIFAX -- A man has been charged in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Shakur Jefferies near an apartment building in Halifax.

Police in Halifax say Carvel Clayton, 21, faces a second-degree murder charge in relation to the homicide in the Clayton Park area.

They say Jefferies was found dead on Washmill Lake Drive around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Police say five men were taken in for questioning shortly after officers arrived on scene and three were released without charges Sunday.

Another 21-year-old man had his parole revoked in relation to the incident and will return to police custody.

Clayton is due to appear in Halifax provincial court on Monday.
