Officials in Ottawa say there are no reports of Canadian casualties in a horrific attack at Istanbul’s international airport that killed dozens of people and injured hundreds more.

Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion condemned Tuesday’s attack at Ataturk Airport, where armed suicide bombers blew themselves up at one of the entrances to the main terminal.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded,” Dion said, adding that Canada stands with the “Turkish people as they deal with this most recent and appalling terror attack.”

Officials say 23 Turkish citizens and 10 foreign nationals are among the 41 dead. Three others had dual citizenship.

No group has claimed responsibility, however, the Turkish government said there are “indications” that Islamic State militants are behind the attack.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also condemned the attack and said his “thoughts are with the victims as we stand with our allies against terrorism.”

Global Affairs Canada said Canadian citizens in Turkey requiring emergency consular assistance in the aftermath of the attack should contact the Consulate General of Canada in Istanbul at +90-212-385-9700.
