What’s the most Canadian image you can think of?

How about Bonhomme drinking maple syrup while skiing in Whistler?

A beaver riding on a Toronto streetcar?

A canoeist apologizing to another canoeist who accidentally tipped him over as they complained about the weather?

The B.C. RCMP may have come close to perfection with an image of a Mountie in full uniform playing hockey on a mountain-side rink. The police force tweeted the image Thursday afternoon, and it has since been retweeted more than 2,000 times.

Shaun Begg, the Mountie featured in the photo, told CTV News Channel that one of his teammates from a recreational hockey team in Kaslo, B.C. came up with the idea to organize a game of shinny on the rink that was built on glacier near Invermere, B.C.

Begg's teammate is a pilot who worked for the company that had created the scenic ice surface. But it was Begg himself who was behind the idea that gave the photo that extra Canadian feeling.

Begg decided "spur of the moment" to ask his RCMP supervisor if he could wear the police force's traditional red serge during the game.

"I thought maybe I would take my personal camera and have some photos taken of me in my serge because it was kind of the iconic Canadian image in my view … I thought maybe (I would get) a few personal photos for my screensaver, maybe a photo (for) my office," he said.

Days later, it’s still getting retweeted, with one person asking if the photo could “get any more Canadian.”
