NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. - Metro Vancouver's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now taken over the North Vancouver scene where human remains were found on the weekend.

Few details about the discovery have been released but IHIT Sgt. Jennifer Pound says more information should be available within hours.

The remains were found Saturday in a wooded area near a number of homes and businesses on Curling road.

Residents had reported smelling an unpleasant odour for several days.

North Vancouver RCMP confirmed Sunday that the remains are human, but they could not identify the victim or speculate on a sex, age or cause of death.
