Environment Canada is no longer investigating reports of a tornado north of Toronto.

On Wednesday afternoon, the weather agency said it would send an inspector to Keswick, Ont. after hearing reports of a funnel cloud in the area.

The funnel cloud was spotted between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., while a tornado warning was in effect in the area.

On Thursday morning, Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson told CTV News that analysts were unable to track down a path of notable damage caused by the storm. Coulson said inspectors only observed spotty, localized damage.

Funnel clouds are rotating columns of air, and are not considered a tornado unless they reach the ground.
