HALIFAX - Suspended members of Dalhousie University's women's hockey team say they won't pursue legal action against the Halifax school over a an alleged hazing incident.
In a statement issued at 6 p.m. Friday, a representative of the team said the players will not challenge the university's decision to suspend the senior players for the remainder of the season.
The one-page statement says the players still believe the process
Dalhousie followed was unfair and heavy-handed, saying no players were harmed or forced to take part in any activities.
But they say the cost and "personal toll of litigation" made them abandon suggestions they would take the school to court.
Tom Traves, president of Dalhousie, upheld the decision to suspend most of the team after meeting with senior members Monday.
All but the team's rookie players were suspended Jan. 3 after the university investigated allegations of hazing at a private house party last September.
