A B.C. man's photo of a bear-turned-photographer has gone viral, with thousands of shares across social media.

Jim Lawrence, a photographer from the Kootenay region of the Rocky Mountains had just set up his camera by a river near Revelstoke when he spotted a grizzly bear.

He ran to his truck to grab another camera to snap a shot of the curious bear, and returned to find he'd inspired the critter to see what life was like behind the lens.

Lawrence snapped a photo of the curious bear as he pawed the camera, causing it to pivot. The movement startled the bear, who jumped backwards, then went back to fishing in the river with a shrug of its shoulders.
