Former U.S. presidential contender Hillary Clinton and her husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, arrived in Quebec on Sunday for a week-long vacation at a luxury resort.

The Clintons are staying at Manoir Hovey in North Hatley, a small lakeside village 30 minutes southwest of Sherbrooke. Their daughter Chelsea and her two children are also expected to join. The resort is regarded as a discreet getaway for high profile guests, with celebrities such as Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman having stayed there in the past.

Security in the area will be heightened during the family’s visit, with the U.S. Secret Service and the RCMP both keeping a watchful eye over the former First Family.

Hillary Clinton even has roots in the province, with an ancestor arriving in what was then the French colony of New France in the 17th century.

Best-selling author Louise Penny, a friend of the Clintons, confirmed earlier this week that the family would be visiting the area, "as my guests."
