The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is alerting Canadians about a vegan snack that has an undeclared milk ingredient. Smarter Snack brand Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored 50 g bags were sold nationally and online. It is not clear how many units of the product were sold across the country. “The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people who are allergic or sensitive to the affected product not to consume the affected product because it contains milk which is not declared on the label,” the CFIA wrote in a recall alert on Saturday. The agency advised Canadians with allergies or sensitivities to the product not to consume it, as it “may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction”. It also advised not to “serve, use, sell or distribute affected products.” CFIA said the warning was triggered by test results. So far there have been no reported reactions linked to the consumption of the recalled snack. CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation, which could lead to the recall of this or other products.
